This policy explains what personal information Elmtide LLC collects when you visit this website or interact with our ventures, how we use it, and the rights you have over it under Wisconsin and applicable US law.
1 · Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to elmtide.comand any page operated directly by Elmtide LLC (“Elmtide,” “we,” “us”). It does not cover the individual products and brands in our portfolio, which each publish their own privacy policy on their own domains. Where a conflict arises, the venture-level policy governs use of that venture's service.
2 · Information we collect
We aim to collect as little personal information as practical. The categories we do collect fall into three buckets:
Information you give us
- Contact-form submissions — name, email, organization, topic, and message body.
- Email correspondence you send to our hello@ or legal@ addresses.
Information collected automatically
- Basic request metadata — IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, and timestamp — logged by our hosting provider for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Aggregate analytics — anonymized page views and referrers, collected via a privacy-respecting analytics tool that does not set advertising cookies.
Information from third parties
We do not purchase personal data and we do not operate an advertising network. Third-party services we use (e.g. email, hosting) only receive the information strictly required to deliver their service to us.
3 · How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Respond to inquiries and correspond with you;
- Operate, secure, and improve this website;
- Comply with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and applicable consumer-protection law in Wisconsin; and
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and misuse of our services.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4 · When we share information
We share personal information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Vendors that host this site, deliver email, or perform analytics on our behalf, under written contracts that restrict use to our purposes.
- Legal requirements. When we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Elmtide, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to customary confidentiality protections.
5 · Cookies & analytics
This site uses a minimal set of first-party cookies and local-storage entries needed for core functionality (for example, remembering your light/dark mode preference). We do not set third-party advertising cookies. If and when we enable product analytics, we use a tool configured to collect only aggregate, non-identifying metrics and to honor “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals where supported.
6 · Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in Section 3, or as required by law. Contact-form submissions are generally retained for up to 24 months. Server logs are retained for a rolling 30 days and then deleted or de-identified.
7 · Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate information;
- Request deletion of personal information, subject to our legal record-keeping obligations;
- Opt out of certain uses, including any future profiling or targeted advertising, which we do not currently conduct; and
- Appeal a decision we make in response to one of these requests.
To exercise any of these rights, email legal@elmtide.com. We will verify your identity using information reasonably necessary to the request and respond within the timelines required by applicable law. Wisconsin residents who believe a business has violated applicable consumer-protection law may contact the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection.
8 · Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact legal@elmtide.com and we will promptly delete it.
9 · Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — including TLS encryption in transit, access controls, and periodic review of vendor security practices — to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10 · Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by a notice on this page. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
